    • Description
    • Additional information

The Siemens SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES 6SE7026-0ED61-Z is a vector-controlled AC drive belonging to Siemens' SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES MC (Motion Control) and VC (Vector Control) series. This unit is designed for demanding variable-speed drive applications requiring precise speed and torque control of three-phase induction and synchronous motors. The 6SE7026-0ED61-Z is a compact, high-performance inverter unit rated for medium power output, suitable for integration into industrial drive systems.

The SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES series features advanced vector control algorithms enabling high dynamic performance without the need for encoder feedback in sensorless mode, while also supporting closed-loop operation with encoder feedback for enhanced precision. The drive supports multiple communication interfaces including PROFIBUS-DP via optional communication boards, as well as USS protocol over RS-485. It incorporates comprehensive protective functions including overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, overtemperature, and ground fault protection. The unit is designed for operation from a three-phase 380–480 V AC supply and delivers a continuous output current of 26 A, corresponding to a motor power of approximately 11 kW at 400 V.

The SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES 6SE7026-0ED61-Z is widely deployed in manufacturing, material handling, pumps, fans, compressors, and machine tool applications. Its modular design allows integration into multi-axis drive line-ups using a common DC bus, making it suitable for regenerative and coordinated motion applications. Industries such as automotive, paper, metals, and chemical processing rely on this drive family for its robustness and flexibility in demanding production environments.

    Common Fault Codes

    F001
Overcurrent: Output current has exceeded the permissible limit, typically caused by a short circuit, motor fault, or excessive load.
Check motor wiring for short circuits, verify motor parameters are correctly programmed, reduce acceleration ramp rate, and check for mechanical overload.
    F002
Overvoltage: DC link voltage has exceeded the maximum permissible level, often caused by regenerative energy during deceleration.
Increase deceleration ramp time, connect or check external braking resistor, verify supply voltage is within specification.
    F003
Undervoltage: DC link voltage has dropped below the minimum permissible level, caused by supply voltage dip or failure.
Check input supply voltage levels, verify line fuses and contactor, check for supply interruptions or voltage sags.
    F004
Overtemperature (Inverter): The power module or heatsink temperature has exceeded the permissible limit.
Check cooling fan operation, clean heatsink fins, verify ambient temperature is within specification, reduce output current or switching frequency.
    F005
Ground Fault: A ground fault has been detected on the motor output phases.
Disconnect motor and check insulation resistance of motor windings and output cables to earth. Replace damaged cables or motor if insulation is compromised.
    F011
Motor Overtemperature: Motor thermal model or PTC input indicates the motor has overheated.
Allow motor to cool, check motor load and ventilation, verify motor thermal model parameters (rated current, thermal time constant) are correctly set.
    F023
Communication Fault: Loss of communication on the serial interface (USS or PROFIBUS-DP), typically due to cable fault or PLC/master failure.
Check communication cable connections and termination resistors, verify master device is active and transmitting, check bus address settings on the drive.
    F041
Parameter Error / EEPROM Fault: A fault has been detected in the parameter memory, possibly due to data corruption or failed parameter save.
Perform a factory reset and re-enter drive parameters, replace the parameter memory module (PMU/MMC) if fault persists.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the output power rating of the 6SE7026-0ED61-Z?

The 6SE7026-0ED61-Z is rated for approximately 11 kW at 400 V AC three-phase supply, with a continuous output current of 26 A.

What control modes does the SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES support?

The drive supports V/f control, sensorless vector control (field-oriented control without encoder), and closed-loop vector control with encoder feedback for high-precision speed and torque regulation.

    Which communication protocols are supported?

The drive natively supports USS protocol over RS-485. PROFIBUS-DP communication can be added via an optional communication board (CB1 or CB2).

Can this drive be used on a common DC bus with other MASTERDRIVES units?

Yes, the SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES series supports common DC bus operation, allowing energy exchange between motoring and regenerating axes and reducing overall energy consumption.

What is the input voltage range for this drive?

The drive accepts a three-phase input voltage of 380 to 480 V AC at 47 to 63 Hz, making it compatible with standard European and international industrial supply voltages.

    Troubleshooting

Drive displays F002 overvoltage fault during deceleration

Regenerative energy from the motor during braking is raising the DC link voltage above the trip threshold. Check if a braking resistor is installed and functional.

Increase the deceleration ramp time in the drive parameters to reduce regenerative energy. If fast stopping is required, install or verify the external braking resistor and chopper module are correctly connected and rated.

Drive trips on F001 overcurrent immediately after start

Check motor cable connections for phase-to-phase or phase-to-earth short circuits. Verify that motor nameplate data entered in the drive parameters matches the actual motor.

Correct any wiring faults, re-enter accurate motor parameters, and perform a motor identification run if supported. Increase the acceleration ramp time to reduce inrush current.

Drive powers up but display shows no output and motor does not run

Check that the enable signal (hardware enable input) is present and that the run command is being issued via the correct control source (terminal strip, USS, or operator panel).

Verify control wiring to the enable and run terminals, confirm the control source parameter (P0700 equivalent) is set correctly, and check that no active faults are present in the fault memory.

PROFIBUS communication fault (F023) occurs intermittently

Inspect the PROFIBUS cable for damage, loose connectors, or missing termination resistors at both ends of the bus segment. Check the drive's PROFIBUS node address setting.

Replace damaged cable sections, ensure 120-ohm termination resistors are fitted at both bus ends, verify the node address matches the PLC configuration, and check the PLC program scan cycle for timeout settings.

Drive overheats and trips on F004 frequently

Check that the cooling fan is running at full speed and that the heatsink is not blocked by dust or debris. Measure ambient temperature inside the control cabinet.

Clean the heatsink and fan, ensure adequate ventilation in the cabinet, verify ambient temperature does not exceed 40 °C, and consider reducing the PWM switching frequency if operating at high load.
